Here’s a lost song from Kam Kama called “The Other Berth”, and its my favorite song of theirs. Recorded at Magnetic South, a fine job. Fun fact, I was this band’s first drummer B)
Hittin’ the streets with their fabulous new demo is Catsup Forever. Their song “Crazy Love” is a groovy treat with some real attitude. It has a nice 60s “hit the road jack” feel with a unique and modern touch. Josephine McRobbie slappin’ the bass, Evan Whikehart on the skins (both of which are from Tammar band), and of course Betsy Shep on guitar and vox. A perfect summer tune for your ipod nano.
Here’s a simply slammin’ demo by Sleeping Bag. Raw and true, I give you “Chillin”. This song will not be on their new LP ladies and gentlemen. Also, the title “chillin” is subject to change when track is properly recorded for sb’s 4th or 5th album, 6 to 9 years from now.
I’m really excited about this. Andy Hollinden teaches Rock and Roll in the 70’s and 80’s at IU. I loved his class and only missed one. This “demo”, sounding like a well mixed studio production, is more trip-hoppy than his other stuff I’ve heard. It’s perfect for studying notes about Throbbing Gristle, Dr. Dre, and The Velvet Underground for MUS-Z 301. I hear he’s teaching a Beach Boys class next semester. Ladies and boys, the man who’s making school cool, Andy Hollinden with “Moon the Stars”.
These guys are in high school and are lookin’ to get their music out there. I was once in high school lookin’ to get out there, so I thought I’d lend them a hand. With heavy traces of Pavement and high school daze, here’s Winslow w/ “Carmel Bitchez”. I think they have an EP comin’ out on 4/21/12.
Thanks Gaby for the bitchin doodle.
This stripped down tune slays and really rips.
This is Tim Smiley w/ “Diamond Rings”
Have a dope weekend
I bet you’ve never heard of this band before. A new band with promise. Ladies and boys, I give you High School Girls w/ “You are so beautiful”
By the way, we’re working on getting full length demoed albums and EPs from bands, we’ve got a few good ones lined up for ya, stay tuned!
Here is a guy that plays under the name Castle Oldchair. His name is Shawn Shell. He is one of my weirdest friends, and I mean that in the best way possible. He had a solo record on Standard Recording back in the day, and I was lucky enough to play in a band with him in high school, we were called Applebones. He doesn’t play much anymore, but I’m so glad I got to see him back in 2006 when he still did. He’s the fucking best, he’s so talented. It’s an honor to release his demo that he gave me, “Crows in a Row”. Sorry for being so mushy.
This song is called “Gertrude Ayer”. It’s about a lady civil rights activist, written by a lady civil rights activist. History and civil rights are way cool. Here’s Cheyenne with Barbara and the Mormons.
The guy from Pop Zeus, Mikey Hodges, is such a rad dude that I would honestly put out anything he sent. Luckily for you and me, his demos are ultimately sick. I’m sure there’s a lot more awesome songs to come from him too. Here’s a track from his two song single, “Really Through”. He lives in Brooklyn and is currently looking for members for his band. If you like to have fun you should audition, ladies and gents.. Pop Zeus!
